With over 30 years of experience in various educational settings in SBCUSD, Amy Ames brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the field of special education. Amy has extensive experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and collaborating with educators, service providers, and parents to ensure each student receives the support they need to succeed. She is passionate about including parents or guardians as partners in their children's education, providing opportunities for them to be engaged both on and off campus. Her proficiency in designing and implementing Individualized Education and Transition Plans, developed in conjunction with parents, service providers, and students, ensures that each student receives the educational benefit they need to thrive in school and beyond.

In addition to her hands-on work with students, Amy has been instrumental in developing school-wide programs to foster inclusivity and diversity working as a department chair, academic coach, and program facilitator. She is also a seasoned at facilitating communities of practice with her colleagues using the inquiry-action cycle for continuous improvement. Her program planning and implementation skills, combined with her strong communication abilities and unwavering passion for supporting students with disabilities, underscore her leadership and advocacy in the field of equitable education.
