Program Specialist
Melinda is a Behavior Program Specialist for SBCUSD. She has earned a Bachelors in Human Development, a Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential, and a Masters in Education from Azusa Pacific University. She has taught students designated to receive Mild/Moderate Special Education (Mild./Mod SDC), Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED), and Resource Specialist Program (RSP) services. She has been of service to students on comprehensive public school campuses as well as a Continuing Education K-8 school. Melinda has also served as a support provider for the implementation of Tiered Positive Behavior Interventions and supports school sites, in building their Tiered Supports. The schools she has supported, with her guidance and support, have applied for and received recognition by the California PBiS Coalition. Melinda co-developed and co-wrote SBCUSD's comprehensive Tier 3 Behavior Support system and handbook for General Education Students. She has successfully implemented this system along with other tiered behavior support models, trained a district team to support school sites, and developed and piloted a 7-day comprehensive training series for school sites. Melinda has also provided professional development for K-12 Special Education and General Education teachers on a variety of topics and to a variety of audiences/settings.
