Yvette Pena is a Program Specialist for Special Education, K-8 Programs with the San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD). Yvette's experience in education has made her an invaluable asset to the district since 2013.

Yvette obtained both a General Education and Special Education Credential from Cal State University, San Bernardino, as well as a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Special Education. Her education and experience have equipped her with a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by students with special needs and have enabled her to develop effective strategies to support their academic success.

Throughout her career with SBCUSD, Yvette has taught in the mild to moderate special day class in grades 1st - 6th and served as a Resource Program Specialist within grades Kinder - 6th. Due to her exceptional performance in the classroom, Yvette was chosen to fulfill the role of an Onboarding Coach, providing mentorship and guidance to new teachers within the district.

Currently, Yvette serves as a Point of Contact for the West Area Cluster, supporting teachers in the area with their special education needs. Additionally, Yvette is part of the SEIS Task Force, where she helps build capacity in IEP compliance and writing legally defensible IEPs.

Yvette's commitment to education and her passion for helping students with special needs has made her an invaluable member of the SBCUSD team. Her dedication and expertise have positively impacted the lives of countless students and families in the district.
